Cellulase Enzyme

Cellulase is a fiber specific digestive enzyme. Its primary function is to digest cellulose, an abundant compound found in the cell walls of all plant foods and an important building block in the plant kingdom. However, we as humans cannot digest cellulose because we don't produce the enzyme. Taking a cellulase enzyme may improve the nutritive value of certain foods like fruits, vegetables, and grains. It also turns some of cellulose into usable energy for our cells.
