Doing Good Together

When you consume Pure Synergy® products, you’re enhancing more than your own health and well-being. You’re supporting an emerging ecosystem of businesses that are committed to serving as a force for good. And to that end, we are proud to announce The Synergy Company™ has become a certified B Corporation!

What Is A Certified B Corp?

B Corp is to companies as organic is to products. Since our inception, we have emphasized organic certification as much as possible in our Pure Synergy® product line. This means our ingredients are grown without pesticides, chemical additives, or other toxic inputs, which, in turn, protects soil quality and environmental health. Our SuperPure® processing techniques are clean, and our end products are free from artificial preservatives, colors, or flavors. B Corp certification takes this commitment even further.

Certified B Corps have met the highest and most stringent standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.

Why Balancing Purpose & Profit Matters?

Society’s most challenging problems cannot be solved by government and nonprofits alone. Businesses have both a responsibility and opportunity to meaningfully contribute to our collective future. Our decision to seek B Corp certification was not about fitting one more logo on our bottles. Rather, we sought membership in the B Corp community as a reflection of our mission and long-held values. The Synergy Company™ was founded on the belief that good faith, integrity, and environmental responsibility are eminently compatible with good business.

Our Road To B Corp

To become certified, we had to complete the B Impact Assessment (BIA), which resulted in a comprehensive and detailed accounting of Pure Synergy’s® performance across five areas: Governance, Workers, Environment, Customers, and Community. We advanced into subsequent rounds of evaluation by scoring at least 80 out of 200 points. The remainder of our certification process included phone calls with B Corp analysts and multiple requests for information to verify our responses.

The certification process was hard and at times nerve-racking. Genuinely and authentically facing oneself in the mirror can be tough, and it was for us too. While our company has always tried to live its values and move toward our vision of perfection, we also acknowledge that our business represents a long journey. Pulling back the window shades on all aspects of our business performance was enlightening. Not only did it reveal a lot of opportunity for improvement, but it also gave us great confidence in celebrating how far we’ve come as a small business.

We could not have achieved B Corp certification without the support of our customers, suppliers, dedicated employees, and visionary leaders. To each of them, we owe a debt of gratitude for their meaningful contributions.

How We’ll Use B Corp Beyond Certification?

Most importantly, B Corp strengthens our ability to fulfill the promise we’ve made to customers and other stakeholders: to deliver best-in-class products that nourish and enhance your life experience and cultivate the innate potential within each of us.

Further, we plan to continue using the BIA to measure, track, and expand our positive contribution to the world. For example, the assessment includes measures related to our corporate giving and volunteerism, environmental impact and waste management, workforce development and employee benefits, and many other important areas. We’ll also use the metrics to gauge our performance and progress towards company goals for sustainability and social impact. Our customers can rely on the significance of B Corp certification over time as the BIA is continually updated to reflect new knowledge and best practices. The Synergy Company™ operates from a philosophy of continuous improvement, and we look forward to learning from and collaborating with other B Corp leaders.

Our company’s name grew out of founder Mitchell May’s simple yet profound understanding of business and community. We are the sum of exceptional people working together with purpose to achieve a benefit far greater than the one, alone, ever could. Building and maintaining relationships is central to the way we do business, so we also look forward to growing the B Corp movement within our value network.

What Is A Benefit Limited Liability Company, or BLLC?

Certified B Corps and BLLCs have a lot in common. Both are run by leaders committed to using business as a force for good. Their governance documents require owners, board members, and executives to consider the impacts of their decisions on society and the environment writ large. B Corps and BLLCs also exercise transparency—they must annually publish a public report of their overall impacts against accepted third party standards. The key distinction between the two, however, is that BLLCs self-report performance standards, whereas B Corps are assessed and scored by the nonprofit B Lab. The Synergy Company™ is proud to hold both designations.

Where Are B Corps located?

Businesses throughout the world are certifying as B Corps. As of July 2021, about 4,000 companies have completed B Lab’s rigorous assessment and certification process. These businesses span almost 80 countries and more than 150 industries.
